Guilford Child Development’s Learning Together Family Literacy Program helps underserved parents in Guilford County improve their literacy and life skills and helps prepare their children for success in school.
Parents and their children learn together, “Under one roof,” through the integration of four program components (Adult Education, Early Childhood Education, PACT, Parent Time).
Learning Together uses quality children's books as a "centerpiece" in which to integrate all four program components.
Parents receive a monthly selected book to build their in-house library. This promotes continued reading in the home and nurtures a love of books. Each book of the month has associated activities that relate to use of the community.
