Guilford Child Development administers the Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Guilford County. It is the largest single-county Head Start program in North Carolina. The goal of these two programs is to deliver quality early childhood education and childcare to over 1000 children in 13 Guilford Child Development Centers while helping families achieve self-sufficiency. It’s designed to do what the name implies: get kids off to a good start in life. In collaboration with Guilford County Partnership for Children, we also offer full day-full year services to qualifying families through the NC Pre-K program. Four year old children who qualify for DSS Child Care Subsidy often quality for NC Pre-K.

To start the application process for Head Start or Early Head Start enrollment, choose one of the following:
- Call one of our 13 preschool center locations to make an appointment.
- Complete our online contact form.
- Call (336) 369-5097 to speak with a Child Care Parent Counselor.
